The Brazilian Navy has auctioned the aircraft carrier A12 São Paulo for 10.5 million reais (1.9 million dollars). The final destination of the ship will be dismantling.
The decommissioned aircraft carrier cost Brazil considerable resources just to keep the hull and structure in minimal safety conditions. The sale was made by the auction house João Emílio Leiloeiro, in Rio de Janeiro.
The process was led by the Naval Project Management Company (Emgepron), linked to the Ministry of Defense. The sale of the A12 began in September 2019, but in 2020 there were no interested parties in the auction.
